30 years ago, Thomas Schmitz started a successful career building custom homes in California and Nevada. His unique designs and reputable service were in such demand that he also began offering complete hardscape and landscaping design as well as pool and spa construction. In 1992 Tom’s interests diversified into commercial retail construction. He was involved with the construction of several neighborhood shopping centers and "build to lease" projects before becoming interested in the retail fueling market.
For the last 15 years, Thomas has been remodeling, demolishing, building and restoring gas stations for every major oil company and many of the largest independent owner/operators in the United States. His numerous accomplishments include the construction of the nation’s first experimental hydrogen fueling facility built at LAX in California. He also has built many cutting edge alternative fuel facilities that provide E-85, bio-diesel and CNG to their customers. Tom oversaw the EVR-ISD programs for Shell and Conoco-Phillips as well as Arco’s independent retrofit program which consisted of 75 sites.
